Desert – New Mexico

Soon the desolate sun peeked above table mesa road

mourning dove awoke the speechless, still nomadic dawn

skies went blue in all directions – cloudless

lizards, little flashes emerged from earth in green iridescence

horned beetles crawled in blue shimmering suns

orange petal monarch wings to warm

with tiny birds to flit before

red desert dawn
